Feature roadmap

We're just getting started here at GoHandbooks!

Here's a list of our upcoming features that we are working on, in order, that you can look forward to:

New features

  1. Payment subscriptions ( Currently in development ) - Right now, our platform is free :) but we're building the monthly subscription system with Stripe. For now, we're going to start with a monthly model and consider offering a discounted annual subscription model in the near future. Our Pricing page shows the accurate prices that we're setting up.

  2. Sign up with Google & Microsoft ( Currently in development ) - Ability to sign up using your Google Workspace or Microsoft Office 365 account

  3. Multiple organizations / switching teams ( ON-HOLD - Re-thinking, likely not necessary ) - Many entrepreneurs have more than one company or venture that they may own and be working on. Each one of those requires their own operator's manual and would have their own teams where, sometimes certain team members overlap but others don't. So, we're going to set up a "switch teams" system that will let users be a part of multiple organizations and easily toggle between those organizations on the left sidebar. That way, you won't have to log out and back in each time you want to switch to a different organization's account. Explain how to use multiple browser profiles instead; best to lock down an organization to its domain anyway and not re-use an email address for multiple organizations.

  4. Multiple account admins - Today, we only allow one admin for the account that controls the Billing information, the account's Plan and limitations, the content on the About section, the Team members, and the Guidelines content. We'll be setting things up so that more than one person can be designated as an admin on the account so this responsibility can be shared.

  5. Team member bios and roles - To help everyone get to know each other better, we'll let each user populate a short Bio about themselves, identify the role(s) they play in the organization, their job title, and even hobbies and top skills, and display this information on the Team page along with profile pictures to enrich this section to better let everyone get to know each other.

  6. Org chart - An automatic org chart widget that visually displays your organizational chart based on the reporting relationships set up in each person's profile.

  7. Checklists and Instructions - Ability to automatically output a Checklist or Instructions of a handbook using the headings of the page's content. The Checklist would render the list of headings each prefixed with a checkbox, while the Instructions whould have ordered numbering prefixing the headings. The output format would be a Shareable URL (token attached so that anonymous users with the link could access it) or a PDF.

  8. Book page placeholders - When you're getting a book set up, it helps to be able to flesh out the book pages by title quickly and at a glance so we're going to extend the "Organize books" page to allow you to easily create book page placeholders by only typing in titles and being able to drag-n-drop them around into the order you want, all in one place. This will save a lot of time and allow you to set up a structure for your Book so you and your team can populate the content as you go following this structure.

  9. Flag content issues - When using a handbook in real practice, errors, gaps, and inspiration for improvement often arise. This flag system will allow you to quickly identify these, track them, and foster a culture of "continuous improvement" within your organization. You'll be able to select a piece of content and add a flag to it ("Error", "Missing info", "Idea") and assign that flag to someone on the team. The system will notify them and give you a "Content flags" report you and your team can consult that will list out all the outstanding flags. Once the flag is resolved, the user can change the status to "Done" and it will disappear from the outstanding flags list.

  10. Browser sidebar - Our browser extension/plugin gives you quick access to your handbooks but when you open one up, it opens as a new tab. This feature will introduce a new option to allow you to "Open in sidebar" so that you can have your handbook on the right side of your currently open browser tab so you can work alongside your handbook for even quicker and easier referencing.

  11. Book-level permissions - By default, all team members can view and edit all book pages for all books in your account. This feature will let account admins pick and choose who can view, and who can edit at the Book level. This way, you can set up Books like "Management" or "Financials", as examples, and keep those handbooks to certain eyes only.

  12. Export to PDF - Ability to export any book page to a PDF for easy printing

  13. Policy templates - Setting up your organization's guidelines is really important, but it can also be daunting. We've done it for our business and we're happy to share that content as templates, so this feature will expose that content to you as templates to help make your guideline creation faster and easier.

  14. URL pairing - This is one of the most exciting features on our roadmap as we'll be providing platform integrations that allow you to deeply integrate with popular web-based project management platforms. By leveraging URL patterns and mappings, this feature will allow you or your team leaders to pair any given URL, optionally using wildcards, to specific handbook pages so that when you or anyone from your team is viewing the assigned work item inside your project management platform of choice, our plugin will have the exact handbook you need ready at your fingertips for you.

  15. Handbook templates by industry - Ideally, we want to reach a wide audience as we foresee that organizations in many, if not all, industries need an operator's manual. We'll be setting up industry-specific handbook content pages to help you get started and to suggest ideas that would be best practice for your industry.

  16. Referal Program - Our program will be designed to reward you for connecting us with potential clients. Your referrals will help us grow, and we want to thank you for your support!

  17. Completion tracker - The more complete your operator's manual is the better off your organization will be. We will set up completion tracking to assign percentage scores to your operator's manual and extend this into a wizard like process to guide you through your journey of creating your operator's manual

  18. Artificial Intelligence (AI) prompt - Your about section content and guidelines can serve as the perfect input to your custom GPTs and AI Chat input so we will make this prompt content available to you in a single click.

  19. Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration - This is a no brainer as GoHandbooks is a content platform and AI is pretty awesome for content generation today. Now, you don't need to wait for this feature as you can obviously use AI today to generate content for you and then copy-and-paste it directly into your GoHandbooks pages. But, we have plans to make that process simpler, quicker, and better. We'll be setting up simple action buttons to help you leverage AI to improve your handbooks. We'll be setting up features such as "Suggest a re-write", "Analyze page for potential areas of improvement", and more. Each of these features will use an AI engine and feed the data about your Organization that you've already entered into your GoHandbooks account in as input so that the output is way more tailored to your organization.

  20. Welcome tour:  A guided step-by-step introduction for new users to situate and andeducate them on the key features of GoHandbooks. It would play automatically upon first login, and could be launched at any time from a button in the Help Centre.

  21. Account domain control: Allow the account owner to choose if their users can or cannot modify their email addresses by choosing if the organization's account should be contained to email addresses at their domain only or not.

  22. Consultants - If you prefer working with a knowledgeable human, we will connect you with a consultant who can work with you to create some or all of your operator's manual and populate your GoHandbooks account with you and for you. We're building up our network of consultants and when ready, we'll publish this on the site for you to optionally consider.

  23. Multilingual - We want to reach a broader audience and help you out in the language of your choice. We'll be building out a French interface first and will consider incorporating other languages as we grow and expand. Feel free to enter content in the language of your choice today, but we understand that having our interface match your language is important.

Quality of life improvements

  1. Improve Styling in EDIT - Improve the styling options in the editing mode so the user can see the styles of text and headings more intuitively.

  2. Breadcrumbs - Show parent items as breadcrumb trail of links at the top of each book page

  3. Improve Save experience - Make the Save button be pinned to the bottom of the screen so it's always visible during the editing experience, or improve the scrolling experience. If the page has lots of content, then the vertical scrolling down to get to the Save button can be long.

  4. Extension detection - Hide/show the browser plugin/extension button in the header if it's already detected as being installed on that browser.

  5. Pinned books - Ability to "pin" the books you use most frequently on the Books landing page
